Today, in the sweltering heat of the mid-afternoon, I explored the feeling I get when exciting positive things happen and, for whatever reason, I’m I can’t bring myself to be enthused about them. Do you know that feeling? When everything is going so well and your excitement hasn’t caught up yet? Here’s what came out of it.

On Saturday night I was fortunate enough to attend Tadada! the 20th birthday bash for PICA (Portland Institute for Contemporary Art). After 11 months mourning the loss of my San Francisco costume crew, I believe I’ve found a much friendlier and more vibrant new community to explore. Decked out in homemade gowns (IKEA Duvet Cover Couture) my sister and I made quite a splash, and I had the best night out since moving home to Portland. Here’s how we looked before we walked out the door:

Today, while trolling pinterest on my lunch break, I came across this awesome image of Rorschach test inspired face paint. I had to try it. And Pretty Woman by Mulac Cosmetics, which I received in a care package last week, was the perfect orange-based red lipstick to go with it.

About three weeks ago I also took the plunge and shaved my head. My good friend Mac of Bittaterrific came over on a Saturday and we shot the whole thing start to finish. Thank goodness underneath all the bleach ravaged hair I have a pretty symmetrical skull. This might be my favorite hairstyle of all time, it’s so freeing, fierce and easy. Can’t wait to finish up editing the photos and show you how it went down.

Well friends, it’s been one heck of a month so far. Working full time, throwing myself back into the job search (if you know someone hiring creatives in the Portland/Seattle area please let me know!) and trying, trying so hard to preserve time for creativity. Last week I got hooked up with a 3 month jewelry subscription by Rocksbox, which delivers designer jewelry to your door in the cutest little box each month. If you’d like to give it a try, use the code: hdconcannonxoxo for your first month free!

I’ve been struggling with inspiration lately, so I was pretty excited to see what I could find in my first set of jewelry on loan. You get three pieces per box hand selected by your personal rocksbox stylist based on your style profile. Naturally I selected BOLD BOLD BOLD and GOLD. I was definitely not disappointed. And the best part? When I’m done with the pieces, I send them back and GET MORE. If I like anything, I keep it and they charge me a discounted rate. It’s so easy and so very dangerous…

First off, I LOVED the packaging. I was also surprised to see my name on a personalized welcome note! Based on the other subscription services I’ve tried, the attention to detail and branding is superb.

And BAM, Rocksbox delivered just what I had in mind. Bold and gold. The House of Harlow 1960 necklace was the perfect jumping off point for a blue Intergalactic Alien Space Princess. And though the Vanessa Mooney Stardust Cuff was too small for my wrist, it made an excellent nose adornment 🙂

Very excited to see what I get next. And also excited to get back in the groove of painting daily. Until tomorrow!

XOXO, Hannah

2014 was a year defined by personal struggle. I learned many lessons the hard way and spent much of the year wrapped in the throws of adversity. Right after moving home to Portland from San Francisco, I discovered the Hidden Warriors Project which brings avant-garde makeup artists and designers together to create free warrior inspired high fashion photo shoots for women battling cancer. Inspired by their work, I decided to unleash my inner warrior, which took the form of a highly stylized tiger.
